Appointments
Most
people seeking orthodontic treatment have other important
obligations during the day, usually work and school. We've
devoted considerable time and effort into designing our
scheduling system and have done so with great respect for
your time.
Scheduling
Appointments Our scheduling system is as flexible
as possible in order to accommodate our patients' personal
schedules. Our goal is to serve you in a prompt and efficient
manner because we know your time is valuable. Shorter appointments
are typically scheduled either before or after school and
longer appointments are scheduled during school or work
hours. In this way our schedule can accommodate as many
families as possible for after-school or after-work appointments.
Rescheduling
Appointments We realize that occasionally unforeseen
circumstances arise which require a change in appointments,
or causes you to overlook an appointment. We will do our
best to reschedule your appointment as soon as possible:
however it may become necessary to reschedule an after-school
or work appointment to one during school or work. Missed
appointments or numerous appointment changes will inevitably
result in an extension of your treatment time.
Full Treatment (FULL
BRACES ) Appointment Sequence
| 1.
|
Records (60 minutes)
- obtaining orthodontic diagnostic records to thoroughly
evaluate the conditions of the jaws and teeth. Records
include orthodontic x-rays, photographs of the face
and teeth, a comprehensive clinical exam, and impressions
of the teeth for study models mounted on an articulator
for an analysis of your bite. |

|
Banding and Bonding
(2 hours / 1 week later) - placing your braces, including
putting bands on your back teeth, bonding brackets onto
front teeth, and placing your first light archwires.
Financial arrangements are also finalized, the treatment
contract signed, and the initial payment made. |
| 3.
|
Regular Appointments
- usually scheduled 4 to 8 weeks apart. |

Retention - follows
after the active treatment period is completed and is
critical for a quality result. The type of retainers
used in our office are "invisible"; they are small wires
bonded to the inside of the upper and lower front teeth.
Retainers are designed to allow the teeth to settle
into their final positions and then hold them in their
new, corrected positions while all of the structures
of the mouth adapt to the new arrangement. |
