Insurance & Payments

Orthodontics is a wonderful investment with life-long returns. To avoid any misunderstanding about money we want you to know exactly how our payment policy works.

We accept dental insurance and will help you receive the maximum benefit from your dental insurance. The fees charged for services rendered to those who are insured are our usual and customary fees charged to all patients for similar services. Your policy will base its allowances on a fixed fee schedule which may or may not coincide with our usual fees. You should be aware that different insurance companies vary greatly in the types of coverage available. Also, some companies pay claims promptly and others delay payments many months. We ask that you read your policy to be sure that you are fully aware of any limitations of benefits.

Orthodontic Insurance

There are many different agreements between insurance carriers and their subscribers and each contract provides a different benefit. However, orthodontic insurance generally differs from regular dental insurance in that each insured individual usually has a lifetime maximum benefit for orthodontic services. This benefit is paid as a percentage of the orthodontic fee (diagnostic records, initial fee, monthly payments, etc.) until the benefit maximum has been reached.

We ask that you look upon your insurance realistically as a device which reimburses you for dental expenses. In most cases dental insurance does not cover the full cost of orthodontic care. It is designed to reduce your cost but does not eliminate it completely. Therefore, please understand that you are fully responsible all fees charged by our office, regardless of your insurance coverage.

We want to emphasize that as dental care providers our relationship is with you, not your insurance company. Our patients deal directly with our office and are reimbursed by the insurance company. Your insurance is a contract between you, your employer, and the insurance company. You will be expected to make your payments directly to our office. The insurance company will reimburse you directly according to the terms of your contract with them.
